Chhena Poda Recipe: Make Odisha chhena cake (at home)

Chhena Poda Recipe
Ingredients required for Chhena Poda:-
- 150 grams sugar
- 200 grams chenna
- Half teaspoon baking powder
- Half teaspoon cardamom powder
- 2 teaspoon semolina
- 2 teaspoon ghee
- 10 to 12 cashews
- 10 to 12 raisins
- Saffron (a little)
Method of making chenna:-
To make chenna poda, first of all chenna has to be prepared. To make chenna, you will need milk. Make chenna with the method given below.
Step 1:- Boil one liter of milk in a large vessel.
Step 2:- When the milk comes to a boil, then add lemon juice little by little and let the milk curdle.
Step 3:- When the milk is completely curdled and the chenna and water are separated, filter it through a sieve. Wash the chenna with cold water so that the sourness of the chenna goes away.
Step 4:- Leave the chenna in a sieve for 30 minutes so that the water drains out well.
Chhena Poda Recipe: Method to make Chhena Poda:-
1. First of all, take the chenna in a large bowl and mash it well so that there are no lumps in it.
2. Now add sugar, semolina, cardamom powder, baking powder and saffron and mix well.
3. After this, add cashews and raisins and mix gently.
4. Grease a baking tray with ghee and spread the chenna mixture in it.
5. Bake it in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 30 to 35 minutes.
6. Keep checking it in between so that it does not burn. When the top part turns golden brown, it means the chhena poda is ready.
7. Take it out from the oven and cool down.
8. After cool down, served it.
Important Tips:-
- If you do not have an oven, you can also make it on gas. For this, take a heavy bottom pan, add ghee in it and spread the chhena mixture. Cover it and cook on low flame until the top part turns golden brown.
- It is very important to mash the chhena well so that the chhena poda becomes soft and spongy.
- You can increase or decrease the amount of sugar according to your needs.
- Semolina is used to give the right texture to the chhena poda, do not skip it.
Different types of Chhena Poda:-
There are many types of Chhena Poda in which different ingredients are used. You can increase the amount of dry fruits in it or you can use rose water, chocolate chips or vanilla extract to give different flavors. This sweet can be made in a new way every time.
Method of serving:-
Chena Poda can be served both cold or slightly warm. You can also serve it with vanilla ice cream or any other sweet. This will definitely make the guests at your home happy.

When I made Chhena Poda for the first time, I was not sure how it would turn out. But when I made it and fed it to my family members, everyone started praising it. Its taste was so amazing that we felt as if we were sitting at a famous shop in Odisha and eating this sweet. Since then, the sweet is made at our house on every festival.
